Civil construction client

Workforce access for a civil construction client.

A workforce access and compliance platform, taken from kick-off to a production-ready MVP.

Tools and tech

  • OutSystems ODC
  • Azure
  • ServiceNow
  • Azure OpenAI

The problem

A civil construction client needed to move workforce registration and safety briefing attendance off paper, for a workforce spread across many locations. Remote sites had to keep working without a live connection. Consequential decisions had to stay with a person.

My role

I worked with the client's CIO and platform managers as strategic advisor, architect and delivery lead. I was embedded in their product team, across sprint planning, refinement and testing.

What I built

  • A mobile app for Digital ID, site attendance, safety briefings and acknowledgements, with each person's attendance history in one place.
  • Offline sync for remote sites, so the app works where the connection is poor.
  • Integration with ServiceNow and the client's HR systems, so incidents and reporting stay in the workflows people already use.
  • Built on OutSystems ODC, Azure and ServiceNow.
  • A later Azure OpenAI safety-review proof of concept, designed so a person stays accountable for each decision, delivered in one week.

How it worked

I was embedded in their product team. We worked through sprint planning, refinement and testing together.

Offline support uses background sync, so remote sites keep working without a live connection.

Outcomes

A production-ready MVP in under twelve weeks, ready for a phased rollout.

Registration and safety briefing attendance are digital at the locations in the rollout.

The ServiceNow integration is live for incident management and reporting.

The safety-review work was a proof of concept.
